How to Utilize Your UTF

Here at Utah State University, we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your education. And the Undergraduate Teaching Fellows are there to help you make that not just a goal, but a reality.

However, this takes some work from your side as well. Here are some ways you can better utilize your UTF so they can help you get the most out of your education.

Introduce yourself.

Your UTF is there for your benefit, so never be afraid to talk to them. Letting them know who you are and getting comfortable talking to them will only help you when the time comes that you need extra help with your course materials. Remember that it is their job to help you, so there’s no need to shy away from them.

Ask questions.

Your UTF is there to help you with anything and everything related to your class. If you have a question about an upcoming assignment or test, email your UTF. Or, better yet, go up to them before or after class.

Go to reviews.

If your UTF hosts a review session, you should make it a priority to attend. These review sessions are an opportunity for you to ask questions about material you may not understand. Even if you feel that you understand the material, these review sessions are a great way to better study for an exam.

Request help.

If you feel that you need extra help with any coursework, never hesitate to ask your UTF for help. Never be ashamed to speak up and let them know that you need a tutoring or review session. Your UTF will not be able to help you if they don’t know that you are struggling. And chances are, you aren’t the only one.

We hope these tips will help you get the most out of your education. The UTF program is here to help you elevate your education and that is something we take very seriously. For more information on the UTF program, please follow us on Facebook.
